Longwood Gardens introduces a new Symposium focusing on "Leadership in Landscapes" where noted landscape architects from around the world share their most innovative projects.

9-10 am: Registration and continental breakfast
10-11:30 am: Kim Wilkie of Kim Wilkie Associates on Sculpting the Land
UK-based Landscape Architect KimWilkie will share the exuberant tradition of major earth sculptures from the Iron Age through the Enlightenment to the present day. As well as tracing the patterns of design, Kim will explain how his own work has been informed and influenced by these ancient techniques, including Heveningham Hall, the Orpheus sculpture at Boughton, the redesign of the Victoria and Albert Museum garden in England and the new East Conservatory Plaza landform and green wall at Longwood Gardens.

1-2:30 pm: Jeff Mariola Ambius, Divisional Managing Director on Process is Everything
Jeff Mariola leads Ambius' European and North American businesses. Mariola will delve into the process of marrying the architect and landscape architect's vision and design with client demands behind two major plantscaping initiatives: the Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas cruise ship featuring the world's first garden at sea, and the Tulsa Zoo, which spans 78 acres in Mohawk Park, one of the largest municipal parks in the United States.
