2010 PA/DE Awards Program

The PA DE ASLA Chapter received 19 Professional Chapter Awards Program entries and 9 Student Chapter Awards Program entries.  All those who submitted an entry will be receiving a notice in the mail that the entry was received.

Invitation
In order to encourage and recognize excellence in landscape architecture and to dramatize to the public the variety, scope and value of landscape architectural services, the Pennsylvania Delaware Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects hereby invites your participation in the 2010 Professional Awards Program.

Eligibility

The Awards Program is open to all PA and DE registered Landscape Architects, full and associate members of the Pennsylvania Delaware Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, and faculty members and students currently teaching or enrolled in PA and DE landscape architectural curriculum submitting work associated with their academic pursuits.  Entries from private practice offices, planning agencies, and sections of federal, state and local governments are invited to participate.  Students must be an Student Affiliate Member of ASLA with the exception of the Student Collaboration Category.

Jury
Other than projects submitted for the Landmark Award category, all projects completed after January 1, 2000, are eligible.  Once the project receives an award, it is no longer eligible for entry in future award programs.  To judge the Awards Program entries, a distinguished jury panel will be assembled.

Awards
Awards will be given for excellence in the execution of works of landscape architecture.  Awards will be given for General Design, Residential Design, Analysis and Planning, Research, Communications, Landmark Award, Student Collaboration, and Student Community Service Award (award categories ).  Honor, Merit and Special Recognition Awards for both public and private sectors may be given in each category. Presidential Awards for Excellence may be given to projects of special merit.  Entries will be judged on quality of design or presentation, functionalism, context and surrounding relationships, technological advancements, pioneering efforts, and overall significance to the profession.

Entry form, entry fee and Submission binder must be received no later than: 5:00 PM Monday, January 18, 2010

  • $150.00 ASLA Fellow, Member or Associate
  • $200.00 Non-ASLA Members, Registered Landscape Architects and others
  • $25.00 Student ASLA Affiliate Members

Promotion
Awards will be announced, including an exhibition of all entries, at the 2010 Pennsylvania Delaware Chapter Annual Meeting to be held March 5 through 7, 2010. All winners will receive coverage in a special PLAN Awards Issue. In addition, the Chapter will assist winners in the preparation of news releases for distribution to the print media.  All entrants will receive recognition at the Chapter Annual Meeting.
