2010 Student Scholarships

The PA/DE ASLA Chapter is accepting application for the 2010 Student Scholarship Program.  Students shall submit their application in electronic format to the Chapter Executive Director by Monday, February 8, 2010.

Eligibility
The Chapter will award a minimum of one (1) scholarship to at least one (1) student who is enrolled in the landscape architecture program within each college or university located within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or the State of Delaware. To be eligible for the scholarship, the student shall have:

  1. have graduated from a high school within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or the State of Delaware;
  2. have successfully completed at least two (2) years in an undergraduate landscape architecture program or one (1) year in a graduate landscape architecture program;
  3. be a member of the ASLA Student Society; and
  4. have maintained a grade point average of at least 3.0 on a GPA scale of 4.0 for all courses taken to date at the college or university.

The college or university landscape architecture program can be either an undergraduate or graduate program and is not required to be an accredited program.

Application Requirements
An applicant for a student scholarship shall submit the following information in electronic format to the Chapter Executive Director:

  1. An essay, limited to a maximum of 500 words (no restriction on subject matter)
  2. Graphic examples of work reduced to a maximum size of 11” x 17”
  3. A reference letter from a faculty member, including verification of grade point average

Review/Award of Scholarships

The PA/DE ASLA Education and Professional Development Committee shall be responsible for reviewing applications received from qualified students to be considered for a scholarship and shall provide its recommendation for awarding scholarships to the Chapter Executive Committee in writing.

The Chapter Executive Committee shall have the discretion to determine the number of scholarships awarded in any one year and the amount of each scholarship to be awarded.

The Chapter Executive Committee shall have final approval of the awarding of any scholarships and shall be responsible for notifying each student. 

Submission

Applicants for the PA/DE ASLA Student Scholarship shall submit their application in electronic format to the Chapter Executive Director via e-mail: holly@wannerassoc.com by Monday, February 8, 2010.
