Cree Lighting AIA Presentation: How to Responsibly Light Our Outdoor Environment at Night

LED luminaires have been widely adopted for the value they can deliver. Significant energy and maintenance savings, or more accurately the dollars these deliver, has been the primary motivator. Unfortunately, often little thought is given to how these solutions may negatively impact our outdoor environment at night and contribute to increased light pollution.
In this presentation we’ll discuss the IES and DarkSky’s jointly adopted resolutions, Five Principles for Responsible Outdoor Lighting. What are they and how can we apply these principles for better lighting outcomes in our outdoor space, while implementing the highest valued lighting solution.
