In honor of #WLAM, Governor Josh Shapiro proclaims April as World Landscape Architecture Month in Pennsylvania!
The proclamation text reads:
“WHEREAS, Pennsylvanians benefit daily from licensed landscape architects through their creation of healthy, equitable, safe, and resilient spaces for the public, residents, and tourists alike while simultaneously protecting the environment and associated ecological ecosystems; and
WHEREAS, dedicated landscape architects use innovative skills and inventive techniques to sculpt our natural environment as well as balance artistic and scientific principles in the planning, design, and management process; and
WHEREAS, landscape architects are uniquely educated and experienced in addressing climate change through resilient and sustainable design; and
WHEREAS, the duties of the landscape architect include a commitment to preserving the quality of natural landscapes, site planning for private and public lands, conserving historic landscapes, and creating urban and suburban spaces; and
WHEREAS, landscape architects are dedicated to protecting public health, safety, and welfare through purposeful design that provides economic, social, and environmental benefits for all Pennsylvanians to enjoy.
THEREFORE, I, Josh Shapiro, Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, do hereby proclaim April 2023 as LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE MONTH in special recognition of the importance of landscape architecture.”
